He's grew to become an associate of by "30 Rock's" Alec Baldwin and "Hung's" Thomas Jane, additionally to 2 beginners from Showtime: David Duchovny for "Californication" and Matt LeBlanc for "Episodes."For lead comedy actress, the reigning champion Laura Linney returns again for Showtime's "The Big C." Laura Dern of "Enlightened," Amy Poehler of "Parks and Entertainment" and Zooey Deschanel of "New Girl" complete the course. Particularly absent within the category is Edie Falco, a kudos darling for Showtime's "Nurse Jackie."Probably the finest surprise inside the thesping groups was the shutout for "Glee," which acquired most likely probably the most nominations connected having a series a year ago. But all stars who've been nominated didn't get requested to compete, including Matthew Morrison, Jum Michele, Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. The drama actress category saved while using Globes' upheaval theme by only returning "The Truly Amazing Wife's" Julianna Margulies and becoming by 50 percent competitors who've been on handful of shortlists to acquire a nomination: Madeleine Stowe in the new ABC sudser "Revenge," and Callie Thorne of USA's "Necessary Roughness." They're grew to become an associate of by two more expected newcomers, AMC's Mireille Enos of "The Killing" and Showtime's Claire Danes of "Homeland," a Globes fave who won this year inside the miniseries category on her behalf submit HBO's "Temple Grandin."Kelsey Grammer acquired his first Globe nom since 2002, and also the first lead drama actor bid, for his turn since the tyrannical politician in Starz's "Boss." Stonestreet will face off against "Wager on Thrones' " Peter Dinklage and three longform players: Paul Giamatti of "Too Big to Fail" Guy Pearce of "Mildred Pierce" and Tim Robbins of "Cinema Verite." 'The Hunger Games' Music Score: Danny Elfman Out, James Newton Howard In

A few days of "probably the most news you have ever find out about Benicio Del Toro" seems to become visiting an finish. On Friday, Latino Review published a scoop that Del Toro could be playing Kahn Noonien Singh in J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' follow up -- a component made famous by Ricardo Montalban throughout a chapter from the original series as well as in 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.' On Saturday, Abrams' told Hitfix this was "not the case.Inch Well, stop the web presses: based on Vulture, it seems that Del Toro won't be within the 'Star Trek' follow up as Khan or every other character. What's interesting relating to this is the fact that, now, both Latino Review and Hitfix might be correct. Vulture can also be confirming that Khan would be the villain within the approaching follow up, so, before Del Toro bowed out, that could simply have been a legitimate scoop. On the other hand of the, when Hitfix swept up with Abrams to verify, Del Toro had been from the project. So by Abrams simply stating that it's, "not the case,Inch that Del Toro could be playing Kahn, he wasn't laying. He just did not elaborate, "Yeah, Khan's totally within the movie, it is simply that Del Toro will not maintain the film.Inch Which leaves poor Del Toro, alone, searching at this photo of he and J.J. Abrams, arm and arm, added around the refrigerator. Basically listen carefully, I'm able to almost hear Del Toro spitefully mumbling, "From hell's heart, I stab at thee. For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee." (Though, I'm able to certainly hear George Costanza yelling "Khan!") [Via Vulture] You are able to contact Mike Ryan on Twitter. Stage Hand Sues Dick Clark Prods. Over Late Payments For American Music Awards

Production stage hand Charles Griffin has filed suit against Dick Clark Productions over late payment for services on the 36th Annual American Music Awards telecast. Griffin has also requested class-action status on behalf of other stagehands on the show. In the suit filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Griffin says DCP hired him November 22, 2008 and discharged him “on or about” the same date after completion of work but did not issue payment until February 5, 2009. Griffin’s complaint alleges DCP “fails to devote sufficient resources to the accounting function with the result that such late payment of wages is customary rather than exceptional.” Griffin states in the suit that state law stipulates that any discharged employee is entitled to receive payment within the next pay period following the end of employment. Griffin asserts that DCP was up to two months late paying him and other employees and is seeking up to $400,000 in damages for all members of the class action.

B'cast bounces in fall

The broadcast biz, looking for an instantaneous injection of hits, has become exactly that this fall. Because of a sitcom surge, some unique new dramas and also the return of Simon Cowell, the Large Four have emerged for year-over-year rankings gains -- something which had happened only two times in the earlier ten years. Nielsen estimations that ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox are viewed normally by 12.3% of grown ups under 50 on the nightly basis, up from 11.9% last year. Fox and CBS would be the early-season leaders in demos, with Fox up a lot more than 15% overall, and CBS slightly enhanced, and remaining dominant as a whole audiences. ABC has held steady, while 4th-place NBC has slid further. Overall, comedy is warmer than anytime in recent memory, which was apparent on opening evening -- when Ashton Kutcher's debut on CBS vet "2 . 5 Males" came an astonishing 28.7 million audiences. Two several weeks in to the season, the Nielsen rankers show comedies composed of 17 from the top 30 non-sports programs among grown ups 18-49, including four newcomers. The genre is particularly dominant in the tip-the surface of the charts, as half-hour laffers claim the very best five 18-49 positions among entertainment series -- four on CBS ("2 . 5 Males," "The Large Bang Theory," "The Way I Met Your Mother" and rookie "2 Broke Women") and something on ABC ("Modern Family," possibly the most popular of all of them). This has not happened since "Do It Yourself,Inch "Seinfeld," "Roseanne," "Sophistication Under Fire" and "Coach" in 1993. Obviously, primetime has shown to be cyclical in character, and comedy -- that has in the past been popular throughout tough economic occasions -- was past due to shine. But gleam sense that auds, more restless than ever before, will also be searching for something they are able to watch while getting involved in social networking. When the half-hour format is much more favorable for this, the 2-hour reality show would appear to become cutting from the grain. ABC's two-hour "DwtsInch is lower 22% year-to-year, while NBC's "The Greatest Loser" has shed 17% of their demo audience. Another two-hour competition series, Fox's "The X Factor," has emerged a good artist this fall, but arrived less than most guesstimates. The hourlong drama appears to become under siege in certain respects, with youthful auds clearly searching for something fresh. Inside a fall which has seen cabler AMC's zombie series "The Walking Dead" rival the rankings of some broadcast dramas, the only real new drama to hack the very best 20 is ABC's "Not so long ago," a story book fantasy from some people behind "Lost." Meanwhile, the crime drama seems to possess cooled -- or at best auds appear to possess enough faves already. While CBS remains potent (and really expires year-to-year) with the kind of "NCIS," "Criminal Minds" and "Blue Bloods," its new crime choices, "Person of great interestInch and "Memorable," have not yet damaged out in early going this fall. Recently, a highly-performed crime show involved the most secure drama wager for that broadcast nets, but 2011 has seen unsuccessful spinoffs of "Criminal Minds" and NBC's "Law and Order." ABC's "Body of Proof," which bowed last spring, has shown to be nothing special in the second season, and also the Peacock canceled cop remake "Prime Suspect" after seven low-ranked episodes this fall. From the network perspective, Fox is incorporated in the rare position of leading the 18-49 pack before "The American Idol ShowInch hits the environment, thanks largely to 2 shows: the Cowell-fronted reality contest "The X Factor," which ranks twelfth among non-sports series this fall and it has increased both Wednesday and Thursday nights and Tuesday comedy "New Girl," a high-10 artist (although it has ended up some following a hot start). Among its other new shows, Fox's dinosaur drama "Terra Nova" has deflated, as has Sunday animated comedy "Allen Gregory." And also the internet should have some worry about the slide of third-year skein "Glee," that is lower about 25% year-to-year. The very best news for CBS is its Monday selection, where 9 p.m. anchor "2 . 5 Males" expires a lot more than 30% year upon year, even when you get rid of Kutcher's debut, and 8 p.m. stalwart "The Way I Met Your Mother" expires 24%. These growth spurts have assisted the newcomer airing together at 8:30, "2 Broke Women," to interrupt out because the season's top new show. The Eye's midweek veterinarians are searching great, including "NCIS" (the season's No. 1 drama in 25-54) and "The Large Bang Theory," that is up 15% year-to-year (possibly because of elevated exposure in distribution) and it is the fall's No. 3 series in 18-49. Two CBS hrs that may use improvment are Fridays at 8, where "A Gifted Guy" has not done much, and Sundays at 9, where "The Great Wife" has carried out decently on its new evening. Additionally to "Not so long ago," ABC continues to be increased by three other new shows, including comedies "Last Guy Standing" and "Suburgatory." The second has fit in well between coming back laffers "The CenterInch (up 17% versus. this past year) and "Modern Family" (up 20% along with a close second behind "2 . 5 Males" among entertainment series this fall). And after battling for a long time to locate something which works Wednesdays at 10 (think "Cashmere Mafia," "Dirty Sexy Money" and "The Entire Truth"), the internet has hit on something with "Revenge," a up-to-date tweak around the cleaning soap format that has not really flourished around the Large Three in two decades the show is amongst the buzzed about newcomers from the fall, and it has been winning or challenging because of its timeslot's lead each week. The ABC misfire from the fall was its reboot of "Charlie's Angels," while new drama "Pan Am" does OK but has not taken flight such as the internet might have loved. Regrettably for NBC, the less stated about its performance this fall, the greater. Its "Sunday Evening Football" may be the season's No. 1 show, up a little versus. this past year, however the only Peacock program one of the top 40 non-sports shows this fall is "Work,Inch lower 17% without Steve Carell. "The Playboy Club" was axed after three airings, and also the net's greatest sparks among new shows came from Friday drama "Grimm" and Wednesday comedy "Up Through The Night," using the latter obtaining a midseason timeslot change to the 9:30 p.m. publish-"Office" position. Still, despite an excellent Bowl boost come Feb, the internet will need to work some midseason miracle to prevent another 4th-place finish. n Fall TV season instantly Grown ups 18-49, excluding sports Top new shows Rating/share1.2 Broke Women (CBS)5.5/142.New Girl (Fox)5./133.Not so long ago (ABC)4.5/114.The X Factor (Fox)4.4/125.Suburgatory (ABC)3.7/top 10 coming back shows Rating/share1.2 . 5 Males (CBS)7.6/182.Modern Family (ABC)7.3/193.The Large Bang Theory (CBS)6./184.The Way I Met Your Mother (CBS)5.1/145.Grey's Anatomy (ABC)5./13 Quantity of top-30 shows by network CBS11ABC10FOX8NBC1 * Includes "Glee" and "Desperate Average women" - (Sept. 19 - November. 13, 2011) Source: Nielsen Contact Ron Kissell at ron.kissell@variety.com

Ehrbar shoots the show episodically and utilizes a casting director to maintain the interest in new figures. Casting director Jonathan Groce also demonstrated useful when Ehrbar needed to request stars to look nudea tricky situation, specifically for a minimal-budget Web series. "You are just very up-front and sincere and obvious," Ehrbar states, "and do not pull the rug from under them anytime throughout the discussions."Although Ehrbar creates the show, it depends on improvisation, an art he searches for in most his stars. "I write kind of a really fundamental description of what is going to happen, and so the actor fills in many the blanks," he describes. To remain on track, Ehrbar storyboards every episode. "We go ahead and take individual sections and use them a large board somewhere on set," he states. "We tear them off once we finish them. After five effective seasons along with a partnership with Microsoft, the show has got the luxury of the production crew, which provides it an aggressive edge.Despite its success, however, "The Guild" is limited to some tight budget. The designers only have about fourteen days to shoot a 12-episode season that's eight to 11 pages each day. "From the pointing perspective, I would like to shoot episodically, because then you're able to concentrate on that single moment," Becker states, adding he shoots the show because he would an element film. "Since the actor does not know, it causes this interesting have to discover within their character," he describes.Pointing a mental drama was something of the mystery for Brown themself. Like a author and director concentrating in comedy, he met "Asylum" creator Serta Williams when they were studying screenwriting together in the College of Los Angeles. Eddie Murphy is Back Already in A Thousand Words Trailer

So this whole Eddie Murphy dropping out of the Academy Awards thing has to be good for someone, right? Maybe even for Eddie Murphy and DreamWorks, who have cleverly unveiled a trailer for the long-postponed Murphy comedy A Thousand Words today, hoping that a little publicity will go a long way for what appears to be a knock-off of one of your favorite Jim Carrey titles. A Thousand Words, shot all the way back in 2008, stars Eddie Murphy as a fast-talking businessman who uses a steady stream of meaningless words to close deals and avoid long lines at Starbucks. (Think Jim Carrey in Liar Liar, only black.) And then everything changes when a wronged client casts a spell on Murphy’s character dictating that he will die after speaking 1,000 more words. Yikes! If only Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Tom Sherak had thought of this treatment for Brett Ratner. There is still no release date for A Thousand Words, which the trailer promises is “coming soon.” The smart money would be on a release close to the February Academy Awards, right? VERDICT: Could have used a fat suit. [via FirstShowing.net]

There is elevated attention lately how systems get these interviews, with ABC stating this summer season it could forget about pay interview subjects to license photos or videos, seen as dodge in the common newspaper practice of not needing to pay people to inform their tales. Producers might be capable of profit the Knoxes discover when they will dsicover take proper care of their teenage kids, but offering something getting a particular financial value - their resort rooms - isn't advisable, mentioned Kelly McBride, senior faculty member for ethics within the Poynter Institute, a journalism think tank. Sleep deprived Evening (Nuit blanche)

A BAC Films Intl. (in France) relieve a sublime Films production, in co-production with Paul Thiltges Distributions, Saga Film, Motion Investment Group. (Worldwide sales: BAC, Paris.) Produced by Marco Cherqui, Lauranne Bourrachot, David Grumbach, Jean-Jacques Neira, Hubert Toint. Directed by Frederic Jardin. Script, Jardin, Nicolas Saada, Olivier Douyere. With: Tomer Sisley, Joey Starr, Julien Boisselier, Serge Riaboukine, Laurent Stocker, Birol Unel, Dominique Bettenfeld, Samy Seghir. (French dialogue)A "Die Hard" setup drives the ultra-intense French pic "Sleep deprived Evening," which follows its bloodied, trapped cop protagonist using the corridors and crawl spaces of basically one location -- in this situation, a sprawling suburban nightclub outdoors Paris. The officer is not good for the bone -- a badge-flashing drug crook, anxiously trolling the club for just about any misplaced stash to have the ability to free his kid in the crime boss' clutches -- hardly prevents him from being encouraging, or perhaps the film from quickening an individual's pulse. Warner Bros. has naturally snared remake rights, though Gaul stands to relish an worldwide "Evening" that belongs to them. Film influence aside, director and co-film author Frederic Jardin might've taken his signal from an illegal stimulant, so quick might be the pic's pace within the get-go. Contrary, "Sleep deprived Evening" may use a few winks, becasue it is crazy manner evolves just a little tiring over feature length. Still, there's no mistaking Jardin's playful mastery in the Hollywood-style action aesthetic his movie starts in high gear and accelerates continuously next. Spanning 24 several hours, "Sleep deprived Evening" opens at beginning, with some masked males narrowly controlling to obtain 10 kilos of uncut cocaine in the carjacking heist that leaves one of the thieves, Vincent (a magnetic Tomer Sisley), nursing a terrible stab wound. Bleeding within the stomach, but which causes it to be home with time to acquire preteen Thomas (Samy Seghir) ready for school of course, Vincent is clearly (and comically) swamped by his conflicted duties as crook, cop and divorced father. Something or someone in Vincent's existence is for certain to suffer, plus it calculates being Thomas, snapped up from practice and held for ransom by Jose Marciano (Serge Riaboukine), who calls within the kid's cell to permit Vincent know he wants his drugs back. As evening falls, the knowledge changes virtually permanently for the Tarmac, Marciano's teeming dance club, where Vincent tucks the stash on the men's room toilet stall. Later, Vincent discovers the bag remains moved elsewhere, which he's being tailed by an eager-beaver cop friend (Dominique Bettenfeld) who's wanting to blow the lid off police department corruption. To convey the pic can get relentless from this level happens to be an understatement. Roughly another in the film's remainder follows the sweaty Vincent in shakycam as, giving or eluding chase, he sprints, stumbles, crawls or advances within the club's crowded party area, techno music thumping. The Tarmac's kitchen becomes the web site more fight-scene mayhem and broken dishware than the usual single could begin to evaluate. Inside a certain point, the film turns flat-out absurd, but rarely when for the hindrance of fun. Cinematographer Tom Stern, veteran shooter of several Clint Eastwood films, seems to own examined eighties and 1990's Hong Kong thrillers when planning to take crazy action that merely doesn't quit. Other tech credits are properly adrenalized too.Camera (color), Tom Stern editors, Marco Cave, Christophe Pinel music, Nicolas Errera production designer, Hubert Pouille set decorator, Florin Dima costume designer, Uli Simon appear (Dolby Digital), Angelo Dos Santos casting, Michael p Nijs, Francois Parascan, Katja Wolf. Majors, Catalonia pact on dubbing

BARCELONA -- The Hollywood majors and the government of Catalonia, one of Spain's wealthiest regions, have agreed the terms of a peace pact over the thorny issue of dubbing studio pics into the Catalan language. From November to July, the studios refused to release any films in Catalonia, after a new audiovisual law stipulated that, over a period of seven years, half of the print run of a major's releases had to be dubbed or subtitled into the local language. That law still lacks detailed regulation allowing it to come into force. The deal stipulates that, on an experimental basis over a two-year period, the studios will release 25 movies on an average 25 Catalan-dubbed print run across a network of 50 screens in Catalonia. Last year, the studios released five Catalan-dubbed movies on an average 15 prints in Catalonia. The region's Exhibitors Union has also agreed to the deal. The pact will take in Sony's "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn," the Paramount-released "Puss in Boots" and Fox's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel." In general, movies dubbed into Catalan will be toonpics, family fare and blockbusters, Luis Hernandez de Carlos, prexy of Spanish distrib lobby Fedicine, which groups together all of Hollywood's Spanish sub-branches, told Variety. The Catalan-dubbed titles will play 50 screens at theaters with three or more screens, ensuring that they are not dumped in sparsely populated locations. At a joint Catalan government-Fedicine press conference, Felix Riera, director of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries, estimated the new deal could raise spectators for Catalan-dubbed studio fare from 117,471 in 2010 to 1.5 million in 2012. But nobody knows quite how the move will play out. All parties will review the results after two years, said Hernandez de Carlos, and then decide how to move on from there. Talkback: Which Movie Actress's New TV Show Will Fare Best?

Last week I asked you which Emmy nominee deserved a bigger movie career, and I decided that you answered Julie Bowen, because I want to like you. (P.S. Congrats to the madly talented Ms. Bowen on her win!) Now I’m asking a related, but opposite question: Which movie actress’s new TV show has the best shot of survival? We rank the five most promising nominees after the jump. Please tell me where I go wrong. 1. Zooey Deschanel, New Girl Can’t deny ratings: Zooey Deschanel’s new show about a quirky girl who moves in with three nondescript dudes launched big even after debuting its first episode as a free iTunes download. Nothing about the pilot is particularly novel: Zooey is likable, the guys are likable, and the show works - but it’s more a trifle than a triumph. Oh, and also? A beautiful girl with pristine hair, perfect vintage outfits, and a feigned coquettishness is better described as “cloying” than “adorkable,” Fox. 2. Kat Dennings, 2 Broke Girls Make no mistake, I love that female-led comedies are working in primetime. Dennings is just right as one half of 2 Broke Girls’s titular duo, and her role is a somewhat natural extension of her character in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. For now, she’s one of the brightest spots on CBS. 3. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ringer You might not consider Gellar a formal movie star, but she seems to dominate our Bad Movies We Love canon, so let it go. Gellar’s new series Ringer has garnered an inordinate amount of buzz for its pilot and sci-fi premise — and Gellar herself transcends the Whedon wheelhouse and has great mainstream appeal. 4. Maria Bello, Prime Suspect Forgiving Prime Suspect’s rather staid premise (and the fact that Helen Mirren’s original series is unforgettably great), Bello is a marvel as Det. Jane Timoney - self-assured, unflinching, and compellingly overreactive. The show debuted soft in the ratings, but I suspect a second-wind is coming for this solid new show. 5. Christina Ricci, Pan Am Ricci wins my unconfident fifth-place vote, and it’s mostly because I adore her. Wednesday Addams forever, am I right? Pan Am may be a flashy period drama — a genre that seems more bankable than it is thanks to Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire — but I’m not sensing a real hook in the story of Pan Am. Flight attendants live glamorous lives in a misogynistic work setting? I believe it, but is there anything else we need to know? Because if we’re talking about the cosmopolitan world of international aviation in the ’60s, I’ll just watch The V.I.P.s again. Unranked: Taraji P. Henson in Person of Interest, Minka Kelly (of The Roommate!) in Charlie’s Angels, and Madeleine Stowe in Revenge So, let’s hear it. Who’s your pick for a cinematic success on the small screen?

Two vets make first series bids

The Emmy comedy race offers support for the argument that good things come to those who wait. Fourth-year laffer "The Big Bang Theory" and third-year "Parks and Recreation" each received their first Emmy nominations in 2011, long after critics had gotten on board with the shows. That could mean hope over the long haul for such shows as FX's acclaimed, edgy freshman "Louie" and NBC's "Community," which developed a cult following in its lauded, meta-imaginative second season. In the meantime, "Big Bang" and "Parks" will try to top each other as well as four Emmy vets. NBC has annual entries "30 Rock" and "The Office," while Fox hit "Glee" seeks its first win after getting a look last year. Also coming back is "Modern Family," an Emmy winner in its first season, offering support for the argument that, um, good things come right away. "30 Rock"NBC Emmy pedigree: Nommed in 2007 (win), 2008 (win), 2009 (win) and 2010.Highlight: Cheerful Kenneth becomes Liz's therapist in an episode that also saw Jenna's relationship with cross-dressing Paul (Will Forte) take an unexpected turn -- having to meet his parents. Why it may win: Has that Emmy pedigree and a just-completed season full of choice moments and sparkling cameos. Maybe not: Won three times already and, as with last year, some critics felt season five uneven. Both those things could be, as Liz Lemon would say, "a dealbreaker!""The Big Bang Theory"CBS Emmy pedigree: First nomHighlight: "The Justice League Recombination" was one of show's funniest episodes, in which the guys torment Penny's not especially smart boyfriend in a comicbook store and a costume contest: nerd heaven. And the season finale ended with a bang of a cliffhanger -- a love (or sex) triangle between Penny, Raj and Leonard -- that was a bit shameless, but certainly had fans talking. Why it may win: It's a show that mixes in sharp satire with big laughs while drawing excellent ratings.Maybe not: Show took a long time to reach Emmy status, so perhaps there isn't as much love from the kudo community as there is from critics."Glee"Fox Emmy pedigree: Nommed in 2010.Highlight: "Silly Love Songs" saw the blooming courtship between the svelte Puck and the zaftig Lauren (Mark Salling and Ashley Fink displaying good chemistry), including his rendition of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls." And "Duets" (directed by Eric Stoltz), which proved how "Glee" hits fewer false notes when working smaller, had Mercedes and Santana (Amber Riley and Naya Rivera) climbing the scales for "River Deep, Mountain High."Why it may win: The songful show gave its loyal fanbase many stellar moments and numbers and remains popular despite slight ratings dip.Maybe not: An undeniably erratic sophomore season hit many false notes as well (the strained "Rocky Horror" homage ep was one nadir), as character development was sometimes lost in a sea of gimmicks. Emmy voters may want to see more consistency before officially joining the "Glee" club."Modern Family"ABC Emmy pedigree: Nommed in 2010 (win).Highlight: The penultimate episode "See You Next Fall" felt more like the perfect wrap than the official finale, dealing with issues of aging, moving on and letting go but also heavy on the ace physical comedy the show does so well. Why it may win: This defending champion is too young to be over the hill. The six nominations for thesp awards reflect the breadth of support for the show.Maybe not: After a rookie win, expectations might have been higher for a second season some considered not quite on the same level -- still strong but without taking any great leaps forward. Voters may not want to reward two years in a row."The Office"NBC Emmy pedigree: Nommed in 2006 (won), 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.Highlight: An episode penned by Jon Vitti and directed by star Steve Carell saw Michael proposing to Amy Ryan's Holly in suitably goofy fashion. Also memorable: Carell's teary and funny farewell, followed by James Spader's intriguing intro into the Dunder-Mifflin/Sabre world. Why it may win: Could nab tribute votes for Michael's final season, buoyed by quite a few meaningful moments. It's been on a long losing streak after winning in its first season.Maybe not: The perception is that the show has slipped a bit; last year had its share of letdowns, including not really knowing what to do with the temporary boss character played by the usually hilarious Will Ferrell."Parks and Recreation"NBC Emmy pedigree: First nomHighlight: The "Harvest Festival," which finally goes off without a hitch -- except for a Native American curse and missing miniature horse; after many fits and starts, Leslie (Emmy-nommed Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) finally get romantic after Leslie first neurotically tries online dating; deadpan Ron Swanson has another madness bender with his ex, which somehow managed to outdo the previous madness bender. ("It rubbed off from friction.")Why it may win: A real up-and-comer this season, generating a mix of good reviews and publicity.Maybe not: While ratings were better (especially in 18-49 bracket), the show is still not considered a hit; if that sways voters, a first Emmy here is no walk in the park.ROAD TO THE EMMYS: COMEDYSingle-cam's ascendancy continues | Old toon comedies remain Emmy-freshThe nominees Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com
