Rare Tuesday triumph for NBC

Though CBS prevailed in its target demo with repeats of its regular lineup, it was NBC that edged ahead among young adults Tuesday with improved numbers for ''Who's Still Standing'' and a good repeat showing for ''A Very Gilly Christmas.''According to preliminary national estimates, gameshow ''Who's Still Standing'' grew 20% from its modest premiere of Monday to average a second-place 1.8/5 in 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall in the 8 o'clock hour; the show is airing as a four-night event this week before shifting to its regular Monday 8 p.m. timeslot next week. From 9 to 11, the Peacock rebroadcast the special ''Saturday Night Live: A Very Gilly Christmas'' (2.1/6 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall), which was down a bit from last year's airing but still did a good number and won its time period in 18-49.CBS, which led the night in adults 25-54 and total viewers with repeats of its dramas, won across the board at 8 p.m. with ''NCIS'' (2.0/6 in 18-49, 12.3 million viewers overall) and then stayed on top in some categories at 9 p.m. with ''NCIS: Los Angeles'' (2.1/6 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall), which tied with ''Gilly Christmas'' as Tuesday's No. 1 show in 18-49. And at 10, ''Unforgettable'' averaged a 1.7/5 in 18-49 and 8.0 million viewers overall.ABC didn't do much Tuesday, seeing its best numbers with repeats of ''Last Man Standing'' at 8 (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) and 8:30 (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall). It was followed by encores of ''The Middle'' (1.3/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall), ''Suburgatory'' (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) and drama ''Body of Proof'' (0.8/2 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall).Fox too had a quiet night with encores of ''Glee'' (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall), ''New Girl'' (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall) and ''Raising Hope'' (1.0/3 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall), and CW barely registered with repeats of ''90210'' (0.3/1 in 18-49, 0.8 million viewers overall) and ''Ringer'' (0.3/1 in 18-49, 0.6 million viewers overall).Univision, led by 9 p.m. drama ''Fuerza del Destino'' (1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall), moved up to third on the night in 18-49 , behind only NBC and CBS.Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 2.0/6; CBS, 1.9/5; Univision, 1.4/4; ABC, 1.1/3; Fox, 1.0/3; CW, 0.3/1.In total viewers: CBS, 10.6 million; NBC, 5.8 million; ABC, 4.7 million; Univision, 3.4 million; Fox, 3.0 million; CW, 0.7 million.
